Mrs Wicket's croquet game is interrupted by an offending mole. Mr. Bean tries to get rid of it but keeps on failing until he manages to capture it. Mrs. Wicket forces Bean to kill it with a croquet hammer but she's fooled afterwards because Mr. Bean, having mercy not to kill it, puts it in a jar and releases it in the wild.
Plot
At the backyard, Mrs. Wicket and Miss Wince play a nice game of croquet while Mr. Bean is reading a book with Teddy. Suddenly, their moment of leisure was interrupted by a mole burrowing in the yard. Mr. Beans finds the animal quite adorable but Mrs. Wicket hands him her croquet mallet, wanting him to kill it. Mr. Bean tries to hit the mole with the mallet, but is too slow due to the mallet's heavy weight and the mole quickly retreating underground. It appears near the landlady's chair, with her becoming more desperate in getting rid of the mole.
Next, Bean tries to use a vacuum cleaner to suck the mole up from the ground, only to vacuum up a turnip bulb instead, much to his and Wicket's dismay. Not deterred by this, Mr. Bean sets the vacuum cleaner to 'blow' in hopes of sending the mole out of the ground so he can hit it with the croquet mallet. As he waits for the mole to come out, Mrs. Wicket heads back in her kitchen to make tea. The mole flies out of the other hole and Mr. Bean tries to hit it again. However, he misses and the mole enters the kitchen thru the open window, breaking the china, alerting Scrapper, and waking up Miss Wince (who is sleeping on her chair outside). Scrapper chases the mole around the yard until the mole retreats back into its hole. After seeing the mole eating a worm, Mr. Bean gets an idea to lure the mole out using earthworms.
After digging a bucketful of worms, Mr. Bean ties one to his fishing line and brings it down for the mole to see. Upon seeing the worm, the mole immediately grows suspicious and comes out to see what Bean is up to. It then proceeds to bring the bucket of worms over to the two sleeping elderly women. As soon as it riches the pavement, the bucket is launched into the air and onto Mrs. Wicket's head, causing her to scream in rage and disgust.
Needing a new plan to get rid of the mole, Mr. Bean decides to disguise Teddy as a female mole and lowers him down in the mole's first mound. The mole briefly becomes enamoured by the 'girl mole' but immediately learns what Bean is doing. As Bean falls asleep, the mole brings Teddy out of the second mound and brings it to Scrapper to trick Mr. Bean into thinking he caught it. Mr. Bean reels the line back in, dragging Scrapper out of the door and into the backyard; after this, Mr. Bean realised whom he just caught. As Mr. Bean chastises Scrapper for ruining his plan to get rid of the mole (not knowing it was the mole who did it), Mrs. Wicket bashes him on the head with her croquet mallet, under the impression that Mr. Bean hurt Scrapper.
After fixing his forehead wound and apologising to Mrs. Wicket (who is brushing the dirt off of Scrapper), Mr. Bean still needs to catch the mole. Seeing the dustbin, Mr. Bean concocts a new plan. He puts Scrapper inside the dustbin, places some worms on the ground, on the rungs of a small ladder, and one on the fishing line, telling Mrs. Wicket and Miss Wince that once the mole goes up the ladder, reaches for the last worm, and falls in, Scrapper will be waiting to catch it. The two elderly women agree to this plan and all three hide in the garden shed, watching it all unfold.
Of course, the mole is successfully caught but Mrs. Wicket still insists on killing it. Mr. Bean doesn't have the heart to do it but he had no other choice. He kills the mole and Mrs. Wicket proceeds to bury the body before heading back inside with Miss Wince (who was in tears upon seeing the innocent mole being killed and recently fainted when she thought the mole was killed). What they didn't know is that Mr. Bean safely put the mole in a jar and takes it to the countryside so it could be safe.
Later that evening, Mrs. Wicket and Miss Wince resume their croquet as the latter was able to win in one stroke due to mounds and tunnels left by the mole. Outraged by this, Mrs. Wicket breaks her mallet and storms off as Miss Wince celebrates her victory.
Back to Mr. Bean, he releases the mole and leaves. Just then, the sky starts to rain so Mr. Bean decides to build a makeshift house for the mole, using the book as a roof. However, Teddy wants the book back and Mr. Bean reluctantly returns to retrieve it. The episode ends with the mole digging underground to escape the rain.
