Synopsis[]
Mr. Bean declares war when he finds a fly in his room and searches for ever-more-outlandish weapons.
Plot[]
On a hot summer night, Bean opens the window to cool himself down when a fly comes inside, annoying him. The fly is on his nose and he tells it to go away. Bean blows the fly outside and shuts the window before the fly can come back inside; he closes the curtains. Now that the fly is gone, Bean goes to sleep but he is having trouble sleeping because of the heat, so he removes his blanket. Bean goes to the kitchen and moves the door to cool himself. Then he opens his cold fridge and gets an ice cube from the tray that he uses to cool his face; then he puts it behind his shirt but they are too cold. Bean points the open fridge at him so he can sleep properly. Downstairs, Wicket is watching a wrestling match on TV when the fly goes into her room, so she throws her teacup at the fly, hitting the TV and smashing the cup. She then throws the dish at the fly as it goes outside.
The fly returns outside Bean's window and it bangs on Bean's window, waking him up. Bean puts a 'no flies' sign on the window and closes the curtains but he leaves a small gap and the fly sees a small open window through the gap. So it enters Bean's flat through the open window. Now back inside, it flies around the sleeping Bean and accidentally ends up in his mouth. Bean spits the fly out and does some Kung Fu; he turns on the light and sees the fly on the wall. He uses an insecticide spray on the fly but the bottle is empty. Next he spots the fly near the light bulb so he stands on a chair as he tries to kill it using a newspaper. He accidentally smashes the light bulb and falls off the chair; the crashing noise distracts Wicket who still enjoys the wrestling match. On the floor, Bean uses a tennis racket to swat the fly, but it only hits one wing and it frees itself, frustrating Bean. Bean finds a dictionary and turns to a page showing a photo of a female fly. The fly is attracted to the photo and Bean closes the book very hard. Unfortunately, he could not find the page so he finds the letter F. Miraculously, the fly survives and then flies to the doughnut, eating it. Bean shoos the fly and gets an idea. Bean puts the doughnut on the floor and empties the rubbish from his dustbin. The fly eats the doughnut and avoids the bin. Bean notices the fly and he tries to catch it but he keeps on missing.
The loud banging of the dustbin wakes up Wicket; the channel shows a butterfly going to a flower; the wrestling match has ended. She realises that Bean woke her up. Bean attaches a rope to a ruler and puts it underneath the side of his dustbin. When he sees the fly through the mirror attached to a broom. With the fly trapped under the waste bin, Bean lets go of the rope and the bin comes down, trapping the fly for real. Bean celebrates and goes back to bed but the fly makes banging noises by hitting the sides of the bin, waking Bean up again. Bean decides to throw the fly out, but he cannot because putting the bin up will free it. So he flattens the lid of the waste bin by banging it with a frying pan. Wicket, finally having had enough of Bean waking her up, goes upstairs to confront him. After the lid is flattened, Bean places it under the bin. Bean is going to throw it out of the window when Wicket bursts into his room, shocking him and causing him to drop the bin, freeing the fly. She sees the mess of rubbish Bean had tipped on the ground earlier and orders him to clean it up; Bean reluctantly does so. Disgusted, Wicket goes back downstairs. Bean sees the fly land on his bed so he covers it with his blanket. He draws a grid of lines on the blanket with a marker pen and draws a tick every time he hits the box with a frying pan. Bean removes the blanket, revealing the unconscious fly. He touches the fly and it wakes up and he screams in rage, but he covers his mouth, not wanting to wake up Wicket again.
Bean sees the fly inside the fridge so he pushes it, closing it and trapping the fly inside. Bean tries to throw the fridge through the window but he cannot because it is too big. Ironically, Bean can just leave the fly inside because it will die from the cold temperatures inside the fridge. So Bean goes downstairs to move the fridge outside, moving quietly as to not wake Wicket up. Bean puts back the umbrella into the pot; the pot shakes briefly, scaring Bean. He then pushes the fridge to the door. Outside, Bean slips on the stairs and the fridge lands on the bush. Bean opens the fridge and the fly goes away. Bean cheers and dances very loudly, forgetting that he is outside and Wicket might wake up. Wicket does wake up, scolds and locks Bean out for waking her up several times. Bean begs Wicket to let him back in but she tells him to stay out and closes the letterbox. Now locked out, Bean is forced to sleep inside the fridge for the rest of the night. The next day, The fly goes back into Bean's room.
