The Bottle is the 14th episode of Season 2 and 32nd episode overall of Mr. Bean: The Animated Series.
Synopsis
Mr. Bean attempts to retrieve his antique ship-in-a-bottle after he mistakenly leaves it out for the milkman.
Plot
Bean looks at his goldfish but it's bored and nothing seems to entertain it. He says hi to Teddy and asks him if he wants to come with him. Bean leaves the house and goes to an antique store to buy something but nothing interests him. A ray of sunshine points at a ship-in-a-bottle which Bean purchases. After buying the bottle, Bean tries to be careful not to break it. Outside his home, Bean searches for his key and unknowingly takes the wrong bottle. In his room, Bean shows Teddy the bottle he bought only to realize he brought the wrong bottle. Outside the window he sees his bottle get inadvertently picked up by the milkman. Bean bangs on the window to call the milkman's attention but he doesn't hear him. Bean has to pursue the milkman to get his bottle back. Now parallel to the milkman's truck, Bean tries to reach for his bottle but has to turn right because of the intersection. Bean then resumes following the milkman. He looks at the truck only to realize it's a different truck. He then looks at the next truck which is also a different truck. Bean blocks the entrance of the milk factory only to realize they're going to a different gate so he runs there. Unfortunately, the gate closes when Bean reaches it so he runs towards the gate he blocked with his Mini which also closes to his annoyance. He sees his bottle being placed inside a conveyor belt and a guard dog barks at him, startling him. Bean gets an idea on how to get his bottle back.
Later that evening, Bean devises a plan on getting his bottle back to Teddy. He shushes Teddy, even covering his mouth with a cloth even though Teddy, being an inanimate object, cannot speak. He even shushes the goldfish, even though it also can't speak. Later, Bean sneaks to the milk factory, nearly hitting the windshield of a red car with his ladder but shattering the rear windows of the Reliant Regal with the same ladder. Bean then climbs the ladder to the factory where he is confronted by the guard dog. Bean tries to play fetch with the guard dog by throwing a wooden stick, but it doesn't work. So he pulls out a bone that gets stuck in the dog's mouth. Bean enters the factory via the ceiling using his fishing rod. The hook slowly comes off and Bean falls while screaming. Fortunately, the hook gets attached to a beam, saving Bean from the fall. Inside the factory, he finds the controls. He presses one button, which causes the machine to start so he waits for his bottle to appear. When he sees his bottle, he tries to turn off the machine by pressing the other button, but the machine starts moving faster. Panicking, he presses the buttons some more, but nothing happens. The weight of the bag and the flashlight lowers a nearby lever, and the machine moves at maximum speed. Frantic, Bean runs to the conveyor belt and grabs his bottle. He goes to the first machine (which is a bottle washer) and exits it soaked and with bubbles bubbling around him. The second machine is a dryer which dries Bean instantly. Unfortunately, the final machine is where the bottles are filled with milk and are covered with the caps. Bean tries to escape it until he finally gives up and ends up in the machine.
A milkman enters the factory and sees that the machine is running, prompting him to turn it off by pressing both buttons at the same time. He spots Bean's bag and takes it. The milkman goes deeper inside the factory and sees Bean, white from the milk, covered in caps, and groaning in agony, hanging on a hook, in which the milkman faints. Outside, the bone is still stuck in the dog's mouth. When Bean opens the door and hits the dog, the bone comes off and the dog resumes growling at Bean. Bean, scared, runs from the dog and returns to the ladder with the dog pursuing him. Bean tries to bring the ladder down but can't because of the dog's weight. So he climbs to the top of the ladder and this time it goes down, while also sending the dog flying as it is climbing up the ladder. Bean leaves the factory, nearly running over a cat which lands on a wooden plank. The dog lands on the other end of the plank and lands inside the box, while the cat is sent flying. When the cat lands in the box, it and the dog start fighting. Bean gets home and finally shows Teddy the ship-in-a-bottle. He shows the goldfish the bottle which it likes. Bean then uses a hanger to hang the bottle near the door where a frame used to hang. Bean tries to hang it but a nail falls down so Bean has to hammer another nail to the wall, which wakes up Mrs. Wicket. Bean then hangs the bottle to the wall, just as Wicket enters and shushes him. After she slams the door, the bottle falls and shatters, devastating Bean. The ship is now broken but the goldfish still likes it, to Bean's delight. The goldfish is happily swimming around the broken ship, while Bean joyfully watches it.
