Super Spy (known as Spy Bean in the development) is the 15th episode of Season 2 and 67th episode overall of Mr. Bean: The Animated Series.It was first broadcast on September 4, 2015 on CITV, along with "Viral Bean", "Scout Bean", "Back to School" and "Lord Bean".
This episode has two official uploads on YouTube, both on official channel and Mr. Bean World channel. Both uploads masses of 3.1 million views in total with the first upload being the highest viewed.
Synopsis[]
Mr. Bean is obsessed by his TV hero Super Spy and is excited when his very own Super Spy kit arrives in the post.
Plot[]
Mr. Bean watches a show named Super Spy. The character uses his grappling hook to go up a building. Super Spy defeats the two villains by tying them up with a rope and he saves the lady. The doorbell rings and Bean takes the parcel from the mailman. Bean opens the parcel, revealing a kit of spy tools inside. He pulls out a rose that makes capturing noises when he pulls the stem, revealing it to be a camera. Bean puts on the rose and does some postures in front of the mirror to act like a spy. Bean then pulls out a binocular that can zoom in as shown when Bean looks at Teddy. Bean then gets a grappling hook that he fires through the window, breaking it and making the rope tie around a tree branch. Bean ties the rope around the leg of his bed. Bean slides from his window. But the rope pulls the bed, and Bean begins descending. Fortunately, the bed moves a bit more, and Bean can safely slide once again; unfortunately he hits the shack along the way down. Bean looks at his room using the binoculars.
While using his binoculars, Bean sees the Bruisers planning something; he assumes they're going to rob a bank. So he jumps to their lawn to investigate. He sneaks through the various items and reaches the window. Once inside, Bean sees a bunch of items that he pictures. He then sees a map and he pictures it, believing that the map leads to their hideout. Bean leaves when he hears Bruiser Sr. coming back. He hides behind the door that Bruiser Sr. opens, slamming on him. Bruiser Sr. gets a piece of paper and he leaves; Bean holds his nose that the door hit. Bean looks through the letterbox and sees the Bruisers outside, planning to do something.
Bean secretly follows the Bruisers and Bruiser Jr. spots him so Bean whistles. Bean continues following them just as Bruiser Jr. turns around once again so Bean reads a newspaper upside down. Bruiser Jr. confronts Bean, grabs the newspaper and turns it right side up; Bean thanks him and Bruiser Jr. leaves. Bean sees a charity shop that he can buy clothing he can use as disguise. The Bruisers are outside the bank. Bean leaves the charity bank, wearing a disguise. Bruiser Sr. leaves the bank, holding the money. Bean pictures them holding the money, believing that Bruiser Sr. stole them. Bruiser Sr. spots Bean and helps "her" cross the street. When the Bruisers leave, Bean removes his disguise and hides in a postbox when he sees them go to a jewelry store. The taxi driver is confused when he sees the postbox move by itself when Bean is actually hiding inside it. Bean reaches the Bruisers while still inside the postbox. He sees Bruiser Sr. holding the bracelet he bought but Bean pictures them, thinking that they stole it. Bruiser Sr. approaches the postbox, scaring Bean because he thinks Bruiser Sr. will harm him but he only places his letter inside the postbox, to Bean's relief.
Back at home, Bean gathers evidence of the Bruisers' "crimes". From his window, Bean spots Bruiser Sr. and another Bruiser placing a blindfolded elderly lady to the back of the truck, scaring Bean thinking that they're abducting her so he pictures them. Bruiser Sr. turns around and Bean hides, thinking that Bruiser Sr. saw him but he actually saw nothing. Bean goes to the authorities to show them the pictures of the "kidnapping". The sergeant looks at a photo of Bean making a weird face so Bean snatches it from him. Bean shows the sergeant the photo of Bruiser Sr. holding money which doesn't faze him. So Bean shows him another photo of Bruiser Sr. holding a bracelet which the sergeant still isn't fazed. The sergeant is finally fazed when Bean shows him the photo of the two Bruisers placing the blindfolded elderly lady to the back of their truck, which Bean believes to be kidnapping. And Bean shows the sergeant the photo of the map of the "hideout".
The sergeant then alerts the other police officers of the kidnapping and Bean and the police follow the Bruisers' truck to a barn. There, the two Bruisers brought the elderly lady out of the truck and brings her inside the barn. It is revealed that the Bruisers are actually having a surprise party for the old lady, who is in fact Bruiser Sr.'s mother. Bruiser Sr. gives the golden bracelet to his mother. Suddenly, Bean, along with the cops, staged a raid on the barn. Storming inside, Bean accuses Bruiser Sr. for "kidnapping" his mother, much to his confusion. Bean and the cops, upon seeing the Bruiser family and the decorated inside of the barn, then realized that there wasn't a kidnapping after all, but rather a birthday party for Bruiser Sr.'s mother. Seeing that everything is all a misunderstanding, the police chief became disgusted with Bean's false accusation. In an attempt to make up an excuse for his actions, Bean naively gives Bruiser Sr.'s mother a birthday card while at the same time greeting her a happy birthday. As the rest of the Bruisers cheer, having realized that everything was just a misunderstanding, the police chief places his hand on Bean's shoulder, letting the latter know how angry he is, and Bruiser Sr., his mother, and the rest of cops all glare at him.
