Running on Empty is the 13th episode of Season 5 of the Animated Series.
Synopsis[]
Mr Bean wants to go to the seaside without spending a penny. Mr Bean is driving to the seaside when the Mini runs out of petrol. Undeterred, he manages to get a push, but for some reason the do-gooders don't want to push him all the way to the beach. Instead he uses wind power, piggybacks on a car transporter truck and harnesses up some horses to try and reach his destination.
Plot[]
In this episode, Mr. Bean packaged some things he needed to go to the seaside with Teddy. He managed load a lot of items inside of his Mini, then he sees a dolphin looking through the window. At the backside of the Mini, he puts two more items. Next, he accidentally hurts Scrapper and he puts the rest of items on the top of the Mini and covers it without dropping.
He finally managed to go to the seaside. Then suddenly, a bucket was thrown away by a female citizen riding a bicycle, then she fell down on the sand by accident. Then his Mini is running out of fuel, and he stopped before the Petrol Station. He realized someone was pushing him somewhere, he turned right then he look at the price of each fuel, one with £1.45, £1.46 and £1.47 but suddenly he did not bring any money. He telled the two citizens to turn left, they turned left then he and Teddy thinks that they are pushing his Mini all the way to the seaside, then the two citizens stopped pushing his Mini and they leave, making Bean frustrated. Then he decides to use an umbrella to speed up his Mini to the seaside, then suddenly the wind stops boosting him and the Mini is going back, then he decided to use a gripping hook to load him on a car transporter truck, then a driver closes the door and tows Mr. Bean along the road. Then he sees a long queue of slow traffic on the motorway, and when he beeped the horn numerous times, the truck driver notices it and gets frustrated, and the truck driver gets Mr Bean off the truck and pulls in the gripping hook.
He does not know what to do, but he heard a horse neighing. John decides to fix the car but he can't, his girlfriend decided to help Mr. Bean to get to his destination. Then John's girlfriend stops at a horse show, Mr. Bean shocks that the beach was just over that hill. He had a good idea, he decides to use his hook to reach his destination quicker, he almost arrives to the seaside but he tells Mr. Bean to stop to pay money, but he cannot stop to pay money and then he finally arrives. Then he relaxes at the seaside until sunset.
Sunset comes, Teddy wakes Bean up and then he gets out of the seaside but suddenly the fuel ran out. He tries to ask a man to help, but he cannot hear him because he is already leaving, so he tried to push the car to the top of the hill, but he can't. So he made his big duck out of his summer stuff to get his Mini on it, and Bean is about to arrive home.

- This is last episode where Mr. Bean is seen going to the beach.
- This is the second time Mr. Bean drives his Mini on the roof, the first one was in the live-action episode, Do-It-Yourself Mr. Bean.
