Plot[]
The episode starts with thunder roaring at night and Mr. Bean is hiding under the bed, scared of the thunder. Bean gets scared when the lightning shows the shadow of his furniture that shape like monsters. Bean opens his lamp and he realizes the "monsters" are just the shadows of his furniture, much to his relief. Suddenly, he hears Wicket scream. Bean goes downstairs armed with a frying pan as he heads to Wicket's room. Wicket is scared by a shadow in the shape of a rat. Bean enters Wicket's room, scaring her because she can only see his shadow; she passes out and Scrapper goes on her lap, scared. Scrapper gets scared and jumps to the chandelier. Bean also gets scared when he sees the shadow of a rat. Bean opens the curtains, revealing a rat hiding behind it. Bean smacks the rat with the pan but it dodges it. Bean continues smacking the rat but it continues dodging. The rat clings to Scrapper's tail. Scrapper runs away and the rat lands on Wicket's mouth, waking her up and making her spit the rat in disgust, making it land on Bean. The rat runs away and Wicket tells Bean to get the rat.
Bean is in the shack and shows Wicket the mousetrap to which she says no. He then shows her a rat cage but she still says no. Finally, he shows her a bear trap to which she approves it. While Bean goes back inside to get the rat, Wicket and Scrapper hide and sleep in the shack. Inside Wicket's room, Bean puts cheese on the bear trap to lure the rat. Several hours pass and Bean falls asleep. He wakes up when he hears something. In the kitchen, Bean sees the rat eating from the Pop cereal box. So Bean puts the bear trap in the kitchen. The rat smells the cheese but it attaches its tail to the door knob and swings down to safely grab the cheese from the bear trap, shocking Bean. Much to his frustration, Bean tries to get the rat himself only for him to step on the bear trap triggering it and making Bean scream in pain.
Bean walks outside with only one foot because his other leg hurts after getting crushed by the bear trap just as Wicket accidentally hits Bean when she opens the shack door. Bean shows her his injured leg but Wicket ignores his injuries and gives him a mallet and tells him to get back inside. In Bean's room, Bean attached a bell on a cheese and places it under the trash can. Wicket exits the shack and goes back inside for a cup of tea. She boils water and Scrapper goes inside as well. The bell rings so Bean pulls the rope, removing the ruler and trapping the rat under the trash can. Bean tries to grab the trash can but the rat keeps on walking and chases Bean, scaring him and making him go to the top of his chair. Bean then jumps off the chair and holds the bin. But he hears chewing noises and the rat chewed the floor, making a hole and Wicket tells him that the rat is in her room. Wicket is standing on her table, scared of the rat. Bean spots the rat eating fruits and smashes it with the mallet but it dodges it. The rat then climbs up Wicket's fireplace so Bean uses a vacuum cleaner to suck it. The vacuum sucks something so Bean places the vacuum cleaner in the rear part of the machine. When Bean readies the mallet he tells Wicket to switch to blow which she does. Wicket fires the vacuum cleaner and Bean swings the mallet but he misses. It turns out that Bean sucked the bird instead of the rat.
The rat reveals itself outside the fireplace, scaring Wicket when it runs under her. Furious, she tells Bean to get the rat. Back in Bean's room, Bean has made a trail of Pop cereal to lure the rat to its box. The rat eats the Pop cereal and enters the box to which Bean closes it. Bean puts the box in the paint can. Then he puts the paint can in a crate to which he hammers nails in the crate to seal the rat. And he places the crate in the safe so it won't go out. Bean places chains and locks the safe to trap the rat inside. Bean drives off and buries the chained safe. Bean then goes home and sees Wicket outside his room, telling him to look at the rat eating Pop cereal and watching TV. Bean realizes he threw away the wrong box just as Wicket gives him a book. Bean is going to crush the rat with the book to which Wicket tells him to read the book. The name of the book is The Pied Piper of Hamelin and Bean reads it. Bean plays a flute like the Pied Piper of Hamelin, and the rat comes out and follows Bean wherever he goes. But Bean doesn't notice the herd of rats following him. He goes to the park in which more rats follow him. Bean stops at the bridge and he sees a large herd of rats behind him, scaring him off. The episode ends with Bean escaping from the rats chasing him down.
