Synopsis[]
Making a complete mess of his clothes just to go to the opera with Irma, he disguises as the singer to get in, only to carry on with the show!
Plot[]
Mr. Bean is getting dressed and he is playing a song Gianni Schicchi by Puccini that is performed by Madame Wright. Bean sings the song while it's playing. He then wears a rose and dances with Teddy. Bean looks at his watch and realizes he has to go. He turns off the record player and leaves, but not before saying arrivederci (Italian for goodbye) to Teddy. Irma is outside the opera house waiting impatiently for Bean. Bean exits his house where he trips on a sleeping Scrapper, who wakes up in shock. Bean starts his Mini but it's broken even though the gas is full. He opens the bonnet to see what's wrong. The engine compartment is dirty so Bean fixes the hose. Then Scrapper closes the bonnet on Bean's head. Bean's shirt gets dirty; and it gets dirtier when Bean tries to wipe it off. Bean looks at his watch and he realizes he's late in meeting Irma at the opera.
Bean decides to run to the opera house while Irma is still impatiently waiting for him. Bean finally arrives, and Irma is angry at him for being late and asks him where the tickets are. Bean tells Irma what had happened earlier in the form of action. He brings out their tickets, but Irma tells Bean his attire is filthy and takes her ticket. Irma goes to the opera, but Bean can't because of his filthy attire. Bean tries to get in, but the ticket man won't let him because he's dirty. The ticket man points Bean to a launderette called Douglas Dry Cleaners. Left with no choice, Bean goes to the launderette. A dog in the bag, whose name is Mozart, barks at Bean, to which its owner shushes it. Mozart's owner and the clerk converse while Bean gets impatient. So Bean hides behind the door to remove his dirty clothes and turns the two hangers into a long hook, and he puts on a hat to cover himself. The clerk and the woman are disgusted when Bean shows himself. Bean tells the clerk express to which the clerk says 24 hours and points to the sign. Because Bean has an opera to watch, he tells the clerk to clean his clothes now. But the clerk can't because it's company policy, to Bean's dismay. The woman tells Bean he's using her hat to cover himself, so to cover his nakedness, Bean tells the woman to look to where he's pointing at and when she's distracted, he takes her laundry bag and throws her hat back on the table, just as he makes a run for it and hides in an alley full of garbage. Confused, the woman sees that Bean is gone and goes out to look for him, but can't find him, so she gives up and goes to the opera house.
Bean opens the laundry bag and sees that inside there is a pink with white dress, long white gloves and a pale pink fan with dark pink flowers, Bean feels bad for taking a woman's dress but accepts it, disguises himself with the dress and leaves the alley as a woman, which embarrasses Bean. Bean enters the opera house and covers his face with the fan so that the ticket man believes that Bean is a woman, the ticket man asks Bean for his ticket but Bean realizes that he doesn't have it in the dress and cannot enter, then Bean sees the backstage entrance and enters while the ticket man chases him, Bean pretends to be an actress when two actresses walk past him, hides in Madame Wright's dressing room and evades the ticket man. Bean panics because he doesn't know what to do, but then he notices Madame Wright's white wig with pink roses and calms down, Bean gets excited when he sees the wig and puts it on, which helps him look like a woman, Bean also sees some pink heels with white bows so he pulls up the dress and puts them on, at first it's difficult for him to walk with the heels, but he quickly gets used to them and learns to wear them, completing his transformation from man to woman. Bean looks at herself in the mirror and accepts herself as the woman she has become, which makes her happy. She enjoys her new elegant appearance and is ready, so she leaves the dressing room being the beautiful and elegant woman she's proud to be, just like Madame Wright. When she leaves the dressing room, she slips away, and then Madame Wright arrives. she enters the dressing room and sees that her wig is gone. The manager tells her she's on, but she can't perform because her wig is missing. The woman with her dog sits beside Irma. Bean hides to avoid the ticket man, but the manager mistakes her with Madame Wright. She tries to protest, but the manager pushes her to the stage. Bean is now on stage, so she's forced to perform. The woman realizes Bean is wearing her dress, but Irma shushes her and tells her to sit down. When she gets her bag after dropping it, she sees that her dog, Mozart, is gone. Bean is finished performing, and the audience applauds. Mozart takes the wig off of Bean, and Bean is exposed. The ticket man in a fit of anger spots him, and Bean performs again. When the performance is over, the ticket man grabs Bean from the stage and attacks him.
