Game Over is the 1st episode of Season 5 and 105th episode overall of the Animated Series.
Synopsis[]
After being introduced to gaming by Mrs. Wicket's nephew, Mr. Bean decides to get his own gaming console.
Plot[]
The episode starts with Bean being blown to his house by the strong wind when he hears a video game being played inside Wicket's room. So Bean goes inside to check. Wicket is knitting while her nephew is playing a video game. The video game shown is a t-rex which is the player and it zaps a yellow car with its laser eyes. Bean imitates shooting noises when he sits beside Wicket's nephew. He loses the game so he lets Bean play. Bean plays the game but he loses almost immediately so he tries again but he loses once again. So Bean plays more seriously but the t-rex goes upside down and he loses once again, annoying him and making Wicket's nephew laugh. He asks for his game back but Bean selfishly gets the joystick away from him and continues playing the game, annoying Wicket's nephew. Bean is getting the hang of the game, still not letting Wicket's nephew play the game when he asks to play. Annoyed, Wicket's nephew grabs the joystick from Bean but Bean doesn't want to so they pull the joystick until Bean pulls it away from him.
Angry, Wicket grabs Bean by the ear, gets the joystick back, and kicks him out of her room because it's her nephew's game, not his and slams the door on Bean's nose. Liking the game, Bean wants to have his own console so he goes out but he gets blown back by the strong wind so he forces himself outside. Bean arrives at the video game store only to be shocked that the Pow Box console is worth a whopping £500. Bean checks his wallet and only has £10. Fortunately, the seller lowers the price to £10 so Bean shows the seller he has £10 but the store is closed and the seller tells Bean it's tomorrow and they're having a sale and Bean should be early because there are only six consoles of that price.
So Bean decides to stay there so he can be early to buy the console. Bean waits and when night comes Bean feels cold from the wind. A woman arrives and sets out her tent, shocking Bean. While the woman is playing her video game, Bean sees the woman has a second sleeping bag so he asks her if he can borrow her sleeping bag to which she says yes. So Bean gives the sleeping bag to Teddy. Bean goes to the trash bin to warm himself when the woman moves closer to the door so Bean uses Teddy in his place. She grabs Teddy because he's using her sleeping bag to which Bean gets Teddy back. The woman continues playing her video game so Bean stretches to reach the bin but he's only a few inches short and he pushes it farther. Bean uses Teddy as a rope to get the trash bin and pulls it closer to him. Bean wears the bubble wrap to warm himself and he knocks the trash bin away. The woman pours hot coffee and Bean likes the smell because he's hungry. Bean suddenly remembers he has food so he pops the bubble wrap in various positions to find it and a candy falls to the floor. He blows it and eats it and a man wearing a snow suit passes by; Bean counts and there are now 3 of them and there are 6 consoles inside. The woman goes to her tent to rest and Bean is now sleepy so he rests as well.
The next day, Bean wakes up and sees there are now 5 people behind him; he counts and he's still fine because there are 6 of them. Bean removes the bubble wrap and throws them away and he gives the sleeping bag back to the woman. The seller opens the store and a skateboarder arrives at the back of the line; now there's 7 of them. But Bean doesn't mind because he's first in line but to his horror, he sees the traffic warden issue a ticket to his Mini for illegal parking. So Bean is forced to leave the line to move his Mini somewhere else and the traffic warden throws the ticket away. The line advances and Bean runs back to the front of the line and they're all angry at Bean because Bean left and the woman tells Bean to move to the back. Bean tries to reason with them and the woman tells him to move to the back so Bean reluctantly goes to the back of the line. The skateboarder tells Bean no chance because Bean is now 7th in line.
Undeterred, Bean tells them the boxes are gone, distracting them by looking at the store and Bean runs back to the front. The woman shakes her head and the skateboarder puts Bean back to the back of the line. Bean sees a pipe so he climbs there to get to the front but it snaps and the woman pulls Bean down and Bean is in front once again and the woman tells Bean to go back to the back of the line. Bean begrudgingly goes to the back and he sees a manhole so he goes down the manhole and goes up on the other side but the woman hears him giggle so he stomps the cover on his fingers, crushing them. Bean returns to the first manhole and he blows his hurt fingers to cool them. Bean sees another employee type a code to enter the store so he snoops the unlock code of the back door to sneak in. The seller almost spots Bean and the other employee says hi to her. Bean hides behind the t-rex character while the seller places the 6 consoles on the counter. She opens the store and the woman buys the console and tells the seller she'll buy the joystick to distract her. While nobody's looking, she steals the other consoles but Bean sees her steal them so he tries to stop her by roaring like a t-rex. But Bean slips on the carpet and falls on her, causing the other 2 consoles to come out of her bag, exposing her theft to everybody.
The woman tries to get away so Bean throws the cardboard t-rex mascot, tripping her. The woman is then arrested for theft and Bean pays for the console but the seller gives him the console free of charge as gratitude for stopping the woman from stealing the consoles and arresting her. Bean is happy he got his console and the skateboarder hopes to see Bean again next time to which Bean says no chance. At his apartment, Bean is playing his video game when Wicket bursts in because the game is too noisy but Bean invites her to play a game with him and reluctantly joins him.
