Declan

Declan is a supporting character and minor antagonist in the Animated Series. He is Irma Gobb's friend and Mr. Bean's rival in winning her heart. He has appeared in two episodes of Season 5 - "Charity Bean" and "A Car for Irma".

Biography[]

There is not much known about Declan's past as he is a supporting character and does not mean much to the series. He was most likely born in London, UK. He and Irma became friends at some point (possibly Declan works at the Charity and because Irma shares a similar interest of helping people or animals in need and being a volunteer they could've met for the first time here and become friends). It is also possible that Declan has been Irma's friend since the beginning of the series, but he wasn't shown until Season 5.

Personality[]

In the episode "Charity Bean", where we get to know Declan he is shown to be a kind-hearted, hard-working, motivated, brave, somewhat self-confident and also really friendly, helpful, gentle and calm towards other people. However, he is also competitive in this episode and gets annoyed easily when things don't go his way. In the same episode he is also shown to be working as a volunteer on a Charity Fête, which means that he is good-natured, empathetic and kind to people or animals in need and towards other people in the Charity Fête.

However, he is sometimes mean and rude, mainly towards Mr. Bean, because it is his rival in winning Irma's heart. His and Bean's battle to win her heart is mainly shown in the episode "A Car for Irma" where they both try to encourage her into picking either Declan's or Bean's car to get to the Donkey Sanctuary. Both Declan and Bean use different ways to want her to pick either car. Declan tries too hard for Irma to win his heart and he does not always succeed to make her happy when she is with him in this episode. Irma just wants to get to the Donkey Sanctuary, but Declan does not take that too seriously and he just enjoys her company in his car and ignores the fact that she is in hurry.

In "A Car for Irma" episode, Declan looks at Mr. Bean's Mini and says his car is "not A REAL car" and laughs at it. Then he shows Bean the outside and the inside of his own car in which he has arrived with Irma to Bean's flat and really brags about it. It shown he can be selfish and arrogant. His behaviour mainly and often depends on who is he talking to.

There are times when he is nice and friendly to his rival, Mr. Bean. In "Charity Bean", when Mr. Bean gets enough money to restore the barn for donkeys living in the Donkey Sanctuary, he congratulates him.

Appearance[]

Declan is slim and slightly taller than Mr. Bean and much taller than Irma. He is an adult British man with light skin, brown, short, and somewhat curly hair and black eyes. He also has brown eyebrows that are the same colour as his hair and they're also a little bit bushy and bean-shaped. In all episodes he has ever appeared in he wore a dusty-red coloured, slightly oversized hoodie with the hood, pockets, elbows, and the edges of the sleeves and the hoodie being a tad bit darker. Underneath the hoodie he wears a short-sleeved, dusty blue coloured shirt. He also wears long, black trousers and a pair of black shoes. In the episode "Charity Bean", he changes his clothes to bright-red shorts and also wears circular, swimming goggles for one of the tasks of the competition in the Charity Fête. The task was bathing in a bath full of beans, and by doing that he gets money that are later raised for the Donkey Sanctuary in order to renew their donkey barns.

His general appearance stays the same throughout the whole Season 5 and all episodes he has appeared in.
