Synopsis[]
Mr Bean wants to avoid having lunch with Irma's mother at all costs. He persuades Mrs Wicket to let him accompany her on a bus trip to a concert but he has to dress up for a pensioner, otherwise he may not come along.
Plot[]
Mr. Bean returns home from shopping where he greets a bird on his way inside. Bean leans on his door to get his keys but Mrs. Wicket opens the door, causing Bean to fall inside, and making his groceries scatter around the floor. Miss Wince tells Bean they're off to see Larry Sweetnote. Bean gets his groceries when Irma comes, asking Bean if he's ready for lunch with her mother. Bean, not wanting to see Irma's mother, asks Wicket and Miss Wince if he can come with them. Wicket tells Bean only old people can go. She tells Miss Wince let's get going and pushes her back, breaking it. Bean tries to fix Miss Wince's back but he only worsens it so she goes home. Bean asks Wicket if he can come because she has a spare ticket now. She tells Bean he can come but it's for old people only so Bean goes upstairs. Irma calls Bean but Bean tells her he's busy and he goes upstairs. Annoyed, Irma leaves saying that Bean does that every time. Bean goes to the bathroom and puts powder on his hair to make it white and he draws wrinkles to make himself resemble an old person. Bean puts a pillow on his stomach and he readies his things. He runs downstairs and gets a cane so he will truly look like an old person. Wicket is impressed that Bean is able to make himself look like an old person and they're off.
They arrive at the bus stop and a woman asks Wicket if she brought her new boyfriend; Wicket tells her to be quiet. The bus arrives and they all board. Bean says morning to the driver who gets suspicious because Bean doesn't act old so Bean acts old. He is about to seat when Wicket pushes him out of the way because the window seat's hers. The bus departs and Bean sees Wicket play sudoku. Bean brings Teddy out and lets him look out the window. Wicket, annoyed, tells Bean to get off. Bean tells Wicket Teddy is really sorry. He sees an old man eating a sandwich so Bean gets a bag of chips but there's a vibration that causes Bean to fall back to the seat, causing him to drop Wicket's bag, angering her. Bean opens the bag of chips causing chips to scatter on Wicket, angering her, so Bean removes the chips from her. He asks Wicket if she wants the last chip to which Wicket snatches it from him and crushes it; she tells Bean to sit still and be quiet. Bean eats the chips and Wicket gets annoyed with the crunching noises. He blows the bag and pops it, surprising the old man and making Wicket accidentally draw a line on her book, infuriating her. The old man puts on hearing aids and the woman gets annoyed. So Bean hides the popped bag. He gets his shopping bag and puts on headphones to listen to music but the other passengers hear his music. While Bean's dancing, he accidentally knocks Wicket's book from her using the cane. Wicket tells Bean through the headphones that it's too noisy so Bean turns off his music. So Bean gets his comic book so he can read it; he laughs loudly, annoying Wicket. Bean then leans on her and tells her to look at his comic book but Wicket's annoyed so he puts his comic book back. So he gets candy instead but he chokes on it so he spits it out, causing it to ricochet off the wall and goes to the driver's back, causing him to lose control as he tries to remove the candy from his back. He goes back to the right lane to avoid hitting the Reliant and the blue car hits the lamppost. The bus hits a sharp rock, causing its tire to flatten. The driver pulls out Bean's candy, and is disgusted by it so he throws it away.
He goes out the bus to inspect the flat tire. He speaks through the microphone that they have a puncture. The old man gets angry because they're going to be late. Everybody glares with anger at Bean because it's his fault. Bean tries to cheer everybody up by singing If You're Happy and You Know It but he stops because they're still angry. He pulls out his headphone so he can play music but the buzzing noises just hurts their ears so they tell Bean to turn it off. So Bean gets his candy bag, Wicket's book and her pen; he writes numbers on the candy wrapper as to play a game similar to bingo. The woman wins the game so she asks Bean what's her prize. Bean says the rest of the treats but they're all finished, disappointing everybody and the woman tears her paper. Wicket tells Bean they're going to be late; the old man says they're going to miss the show. Bean sees the driver fix the tire so he goes out to help but the driver says he can do it; but Bean still wants to help so they fight for the wrench. Bean accidentally knocks the driver to the toolbox, breaking his arm and rendering him unable to drive. So Bean decides to drive, overtaking the vehicles along the way. He sees a bus along the way so he goes to the field to overtake the bus. Bean reaches a roundabout so he goes in circles clockwise because he doesn't know where to go; everybody gets nauseous. Bean sees the sign leading to the theater so he goes south. They arrive at the theater and everybody's head hurts due to Bean going in circles earlier. Everybody hands their tickets to the ticket man just as Bean hands his; he pretends his back hurts as not to arouse suspicion from the ticket man. Bean buys a candy from the woman and he goes inside the theater. Larry Sweetnote goes to the stage to perform. Bean eats a candy and he chokes on it again so he spits it, causing it to ricochet off the chair, off the shell, off the spotlight, and to the floor where Larry Sweetnote slips on it, breaking his back. Wicket calls Bean because Bean spat the candy. Bean goes to the stage to fix Larry Sweetnote's back, worsening it so the concert's off. The nurse helps him and the audience boos at Bean and Wicket crushes a cookie and furiously yells Bean. Bean tries to cheer everybody by singing If You're Happy and You Know It and they all boo and throw things at him.
