Charity Bean is the 8th episode of Season 5 and 112th episode overall of the Animated Series.
Synopsis[]
At the fair, Irma encourages Mr. Bean to go face-to-face with fundraising star Declan to help support money for a donkey sanctuary.
Plot[]
The episode starts with Bean lining up to go to the parking lot. Seeing the Reliant, Bean drives through the fence and takes the parking space from the Reliant. Bean leaves his Mini to go to Charity Fête. Inside the fair, Bean sees a man paint a drawing of a thermometer red and the top part is £10,000. Then he sees a raffle and Irma appears and she kisses Bean because he made it; Bean wipes her kiss using Teddy. Irma pulls Bean from the raffle and brings him to a donkey stall. Irma pities the donkey because it's in bad shape just as Bean returns to the raffle. He sees the rewards and the respective numbers. Bean sees a toy car and the number taped to it is 95 which he wants so he plays the raffle. Unfortunately, he gets 19 so he tries again which he gets 57. While the girl plays the game, Bean cheats by taking both papers and sticks them together to form 95. Bean shows the raffle worker he got 95 when Irma taps him, shocking him and ripping the paper and exposing them as fakes, angering the worker. Irma pulls him away from the raffle and brings him back to the donkey stall because they're here to raise money for the donkey sanctuary. Bean only puts a few coins on the bucket and now it's his turn to collect.
A man named Declan holding a red bucket arrives. He shows Irma the red bucket is full of coins. Declan asks Bean if he can look at his blue bucket to which Bean doesn't want to so Irma takes the bucket from him and shows Declan Bean only has a few coins so they laugh at him. Annoyed, Bean says he only just started. Declan shows Irma the list of all 4 events and she says he can do all these events with Declan. So Bean reluctantly rides on the blue bike while Declan rides on the red bike. They both pedal and Declan scores much higher than Bean so Declan earns more coins whereas only a butterfly lands on Bean's bucket. Bean can't catch up to Declan but he looks at something. Later, Declan suddenly can't pedal while Bean is earning coins this time. It is revealed Bean put Teddy under Declan's bike so Bean can cheat to win. Irma removes Teddy from the bike and angrily returns him to Bean; the crowd boos at Bean for cheating. Now exposed, Bean gives his coins to Declan except for 3 which are his.
Later, Declan is in a pillory where kids throw sponges at him while Bean is ignored. So Bean has an idea; Bean calls the kids and they get scared because he's making scary faces. Angry, Irma stops Bean from making the scary faces and Bean says Declan started it. Irma angrily tells Bean to leave and a sponge hits Declan. Later, Bean tries a bean and Declan arrives wearing his swimsuit; he goes to the tub and Bean laughs. A man puts a coin on Declan's bucket, angering Bean. So Bean leaves, but he spots the drain plug so he runs to the rubber duck fishing stall and asks the man if he can borrow his fishing rod; he pays him. Bean hides in a tent and can't hook the plug so he tries again but he catches a man's wig instead. The man pursues the line and runs into the tent, attacks Bean and gets his wig back. Bean catches the drain plug and pulls it off, draining the beans and making the crowd boo. Declan sees the fishing rod and realizes that Bean removed the plug so he pulls Bean out of the tent. Later, a man is shown parachuting from a plane. Bean and Declan glare at each other and Irma tells them to collect sponsors. Declan sponsors a girl and she signs. Bean sponsors a girl and she declines. He and Declan continue to glare at each other while Irma tells them to get more sponsors. But Declan feels something in his ear so he tries to remove it and places his clipboard on the table which Bean takes so he can switch his with Declan's. Bean unknowingly places Declan's clipboard back on the table and he removes the bean from his ear. Declan and Bean continue gathering sponsors and Bean gets annoyed when he realizes he put back Declan's clipboard on the table instead of his.
Bean sees Irma comfort the sick donkey so Bean hides behind the sign and cheats by writing in his clipboard. Declan shows his clipboard to the pilot while Bean shows his to the pilot which contains more names than Declan's. Bean and Declan board the plane. Declan jumps off and Bean gets scared but it's his turn so the pilot taps him. Bean tells the pilot he doesn't want to do it so the pilot pushes him off the plane. Teddy also falls so Bean grabs him. Bean acts like Superman while he's falling. Declan successfully parachutes down to the target. The parachuter taps Bean to remind him to open his parachute. Bean sees that he's almost to the ground so, panicking, he pulls the parachute but the rope breaks; fortunately the parachute activates anyway and Bean lands on the target and the audience applauds at him so Declan reluctantly applauds. Bean and Declan shake hands, apparently having settled their differences. Irma looks at Declan's clipboard and he places his bucket full of coins on the table. The painter paints more of the drawing of the thermometer red. Irma reads Bean's clipboard which says £225 and Bean only puts £3 on the table, angering Irma because Bean faked the sponsors. The crowd boos at Bean and Irma asks for the other £222. Bean gets his jar of coins and gives Irma only £3, angering her and the crowd even more, so he reluctantly gives his entire jar to her and the crowd cheers. They have now collected £10,000 and the donkey is happy again. Everybody cheers except for Bean because he gave all his coins to Irma. Irma kisses Bean and she gives him his jar back.
