Do not confuse this episode's title with episodes with a similar title - "Birthday Bear" from Season 1 and "Birthday Party" from Season 2.
Birthday Bother (known as Bean Post in the development) is the fifth episode of Season 3 and 109th episode overall of Mr. Bean: The Animated Series. It originally aired over CITV on April 23, 2019.
This episode has only two uploads on YouTube, both on official channel. Both uploads masses of 753k views in total with the second upload being the highest viewed.
Synopsis[]
It's Irma's birthday and Mr. Bean writes out two cards, one nice and one silly - unfortunately, he gets his envelopes mixed up and sends off the wrong card.
Plot[]
Mr. Bean walks around when he sees a mother and daughter holding balloons and he looks at the store that sells cards. Bean looks at his schedule book and it's Irma's birthday tomorrow so Bean goes to Hannah's Cards to buy a birthday card for her. Inside the store, Bean gets a card with a race car in it but he says no so he looks for another card. Bean goes to another shelf and finds a box with 200 cards; Bean is happy because with cards that many he doesn't need to buy another card again. Bean buys the cards and he leaves the shop. He sees a painter painting a man doing a pose. Bean laughs at the drawing because it looks nothing like him. Bean then sneezes, causing the painter to draw a long nose. The man gets infuriated when he sees the big nose and he destroys the painter's easel and pursues him while Bean makes a run for it.
In Bean's flat, he opens the box and draws an ugly drawing of Irma in the card in which he shows it to Teddy. He writes a message to Irma telling her she smells. He puts it in his envelope and he asks Teddy if he will do it and Bean says no because he's only joking. Bean writes happy birthday to Irma in another card and he writes Irma Gobb in an envelope. He gets a stamp but it gets stuck in his fingers and his nose so he blows it out of his nose, unknowingly blowing Irma's birthday card off the table. Bean places the stamp on the envelope and he unknowingly puts the rude card in the envelope. Bean goes outside and puts the envelope in the postbox. He returns home and he sees the birthday card on the floor; Bean gets scared when he realizes he put the rude card in the envelope. So he puts Irma's birthday card in another envelope and he races back to the postbox.
Bean tries to retrieve the rude card but the postman stops him and he gets the letters. He tries to swap the rude card with Irma's birthday card but the postman stops him because no interfering with the royal mail and he puts it in the lorry. Bean tries to pursue the lorry and he stops it to let an elderly lady cross the street. When the elderly lady crosses the street, the lorry speeds off immediately, annoying Bean. Bean arrives at the post office when the postman enters the premises so Bean sneaks in when the gate opens. Bean watches the postman put the letters in the building. So he sneaks inside when the guard spots him so the guard tells him to leave. Undeterred, Bean gets a box and throws the contents inside the lorry and he rings the door and he hides inside the box. The guard answers and he sees the box on the ground so he pushes it in because Bean is heavy. An employee has placed the box on the cart and puts it in the conveyor room. Bean exits the box and he looks for his card only to realize there are thousands of letters inside the room. Bean spots the postman put the letters including the rude card on the conveyor belt. So Bean digs through the letters to get his card only to see that it's now on the conveyor belt. Bean goes to the conveyor belt and enters a spinning circle. After he exits the spinning circle, the letter goes left while Bean goes straight. So Bean runs back to get the letter but a box land on his head and a hammer pushes him to the lower level of the conveyor belt. Bean removes the box and he sees the letter on the other side so he goes there to get it only for him to fall to the chute and to a letter bag. Bean digs through the bag to look for the rude card and he gets a pink envelope only to realize it's a different pink envelope and he tears it. Bean spots the rude card but he goes up to a higher level of the conveyor belt. He opens a package containing a fishing rod and he tries to fish the letter but he fishes a spinner that pulls him closer to it. The fishing rod breaks when it touches the spinner and the conveyor belt breaks and the alarm goes off. The guard checks the room and Bean falls to the chute to the letter bag and Bean gets the rude card. Instead of tearing it immediately, Bean exits the conveyor room with the rude card still intact and the postman snatches the letter from him. The guard and the postman kick him out of the post office. A postwoman walks past Bean.
Bean realizes it'll be delivered to Irma's tomorrow and he'll be there. The next day, it's Irma's birthday and she walks home when Bean spies on her from the bushes. Bean hides when Irma turns around. Irma enters her house. A bird lands on Bean's head so Bean shoos it. The postman arrives the delivers the letter to Irma so Bean sneaks to retrieve the letter from him by disguising as a bush. Then Bean hides behind the trash bin. He tries to snatch the letter from the postman and he and the postman fight for the letter, knocking over the trash bin in the process. Bean snatches the bag from the postman so he is forced to leave to retrieve it. The two letters are together so Bean can't tell them apart just as Irma opens the door. She sees Bean holding two pink envelopes and she asks him if they're for her. Bean gives her one of the letters and she opens it and the card has the photo of daffodils which is her favorite. She gets angry when she receives the rude card from Bean. Bean tries to explain but Irma storms back inside. He brings out her birthday card and tries to call her but she won't listen, saddening Bean.

- The conveyor belt scene is inspired by the Season 1 episode, The Bottle. This time is about the Irma's envelope rather than the shipwreck bottle.
- This is the first episode that Julia Wicket is absent in Season 3.
- The way he took the ride in mail office at last was also previously seen in Ball Pool.
- The mail carrier in this episode “The Royal Mail”, shares its name with the real life Royal Mail. The logo in the episode is a generic one instead of the real one because of copyright.
