Big TV is the 3rd episode of Season 3 of the Animated Series.
Synopsis[]
When Mr. Bean's old TV breaks, he tries to buy a new one.
Plot[]
It's night at Mr. Bean's flat and he prepares popcorn for his favorite show. He moves the TV to make sure it's in the right position. Bean drinks his juice and drinks Irma Gobb's juice and makes sure their amounts are equal. Bean looks at his watch, still waiting for Irma to arrive. Bean finishes his popcorn and refills the bowl when he realizes he had finished it. He then looks at his watch and counts from 3 to 1, and Irma has arrived. When Irma arrives, Bean removes her coat and hat and hangs them on the hook on his door. She kisses him and Bean wipes it off as always. Irma shows Bean the disc of Andre, her favorite singer. She plays the music of Andre on Bean's record player, just as Bean opens the TV to display a space show, preventing Irma from listening to the music of Andre. She sits on the chair while being annoyed. When Bean runs out of popcorn, he asks Irma to refill it. When Irma wants to get popcorn, Bean rudely moves the bowl away from her. Irma looks at the TV guide and sees that Andre will perform on 7:30pm. So she changes the channel to watch Andre's performance. While annoyed, Bean tries to take the remote from her, but she won't give it to him. Bean pulls out a broom with a rubber glove attached on its rear and changes the channel back to the space show. Bean and Irma fight for their favorite channel and they quickly keep changing the channel back and forth until the TV explodes. Furious, Irma leaves Bean's room, taking Lottie, her coat, and her hat with her. Bean stays frozen and his broom snaps.
The next day, Bean goes to Harlotts to buy a replacement TV. The employee greets Bean and Bean wants to buy a new TV. He shows Bean a small TV in the economy section but Bean doesn't like it. Bean spots a large TV that he wants to buy. The employee lets Bean use the remote and Bean presses a button that causes the satellite to move. Bean opens the TV to the space show; briefly getting shocked when he thinks the characters are going to exit the TV. When Bean realizes his mistake, he wants to buy it. The employee shows Bean the price tag, which was... a whopping £500! Bean opens his wallet and a butterfly comes out. The employee sees the Bean has no money so he turns off the TV and he snickers when Bean leaves. Bean looks at the smaller TV to see an artist sell his painting for £20, and Bean has an idea.
Bean puts up his paintings for sale, just as a dog smells his painting of a bone. Bean shoos the dog, but the dog grabs the painting and runs off, so Bean chases it. When Bean chases the dog around a tree, the dog accidentally hits Bean's knee with the painting, hurting him. Bean shakes the painting to remove the dog which he does but the painting has been bitten and the dog runs off. Bean then discards the painting just as he sees a puppet show. The puppets are a jester and a policeman who are just whacking each other with a plank. The kids like it but Bean doesn't. When the puppet show is done, the kids give the puppeteer money. Bean now has an idea.
At the backyard, Bean builds his puppet show and then paints the shack blue. Inside his room, Bean pulls a box from his cabinet. He removes a toy alien and a toy spaceship from the space show he likes and plays with the toys by letting the toy spaceship shoot the toy alien. He then pulls out a megaphone, that he says hello to make sure it's still working. He pulls out three ping pong balls, and a ping pong racket, and he throws the racket away, just because he doesn't need it. Bean draws a dot on the three balls so they can resemble eyes, and he gets a pink sock from a drawer and pretends it's a sock monster. Bean is now ready so he heads back out. Outside, the kids are watching the same puppet jester and puppet policeman whack each other with the plank. When Bean sees the kids are not in front of him, he plays the song of the space show on his record player which causes the kids to move to his puppet show, except for one blond boy who is bored. The puppeteer notices Bean's puppet show where he uses the toy versions of the characters of the space show as his puppets, saddening him. The spaceship shoots down the alien, and Bean uses the powder to resemble smoke from its destruction. Just then the sock monster comes out, scaring the kids. The sock monster destroys the spaceship, making the kids boo at it; the sock monster laughs evilly. Then Teddy comes out, wearing a glue as a helmet and using a torch, shocking the sock monster. Teddy then "shoots" the sock monster with his flashlight, defeating it. The kids then put their money on Bean's bucket, while Bean laughs triumphantly.
Back at Harlotts, Bean counts his money to £10. The employee reminds Bean that the price is £500, just as Bean gives him a large sack full of coins. Without any choice, the employee counts from £11 all the way to £500, and Bean tells him to hurry up. It's night again and Bean now owns the big TV. Bean reads the comic book, not liking Andre, but liking the space show. Irma knocks on the door, and she won't kiss Bean. He tells her to look at the big TV but she won't listen and she just gets her disc of Andre and leaves. To get Irma back, Bean starts up the TV to Andre singing, and Irma comes back inside. Now that Irma's back, Bean now gets bored and uses the remote to change to the channel that shows the space show. Irma gets Bean's broom with the rubber glove attached to it to change back to Andre's singing, but their items used to change the channel have switched. Bean and Irma fight for their favorite channel once again, and Bean's new big TV breaks when they keep changing the channel once again! Bean and Irma laugh at this and Bean goes to the bathroom and gets a sponge and puts glue on it. Bean removes the third eye of the sock monster and replaces it with the sponge to make it resemble Andre. Bean plays the music of Andre on Irma's record player and makes the puppet sing. Then Bean brings Teddy out to make him "shoot" the puppet Andre with his torch, who dodges the shot. Irma gets annoyed at first then she starts laughing.

Trivia[]
- A Mr. Bean marathon aired on ITV on March 3, 2007 and features this episode and the world premiere of the Matt Willis music video at the end of the marathon as Mr Bean says in the advert, "The world exclusive on my newest music video".
- When Bean was drawing dots on the ping pong balls for eyes of the sock monster, it is inspired by Goodnight Mr. Bean where he used it for the London guard.
- Although Bean was also lefthanded when drawing, Rowan Atkinson is actually right-handed in real life.
- This is the first episode to be animated by Sunwoo Entertainment.
- In this episode Mrs Wicket and her cat Scrapper make a cameo appearance in a painting that Mr Bean is selling

- When aired on Boomerang Asia, Cartoon Network, and Cartoon Network HD, the scene where the TV explodes was entirely cut.
