Bean's Bounty is the second segment of the third episode aired of Season 1 of the animated series.
Synopsis
Whilst digging for buried treasure, Mr Bean digs himself a hole too deep to get out of.
Plot
The segment starts with Mr. Bean spotting an archaeological dig site, which he drives to instead of where he was originally going. Now at the site, he takes his camera out, trying to get a good picture, but to no avail, so he infiltrates the site. He sneaks past the security guard and then goes down a ladder, where he sees an artefact dug out by an archaeologist lowered down by the Swarthies in a digger, who are both workers at the site. Bean proceeds to take a photo, but this angers the archaeologist. Bean took photos of artefacts that had been dug out sitting on a table, but when he saw the skull, he got a fright. The two Swarthies then went down the ladder and laughed at him. Unimpressed at that gesture, Bean continued on, and the two went to the table. Small spotted a lamp, and to see if anyone was looking, Large pushed Small behind him. Then Small checked out the lamp with an eyeglass, which Large then put in his jacket, and they both went on. A new artefact covered in hard mud is dug out by the archaeologist, with an impatient Bean waiting. He then wheeled the newly dug-out artefact over to the x-ray screen to be scanned for treasure, which revealed itself to be a large chest. Mr. Bean went behind the X-ray screen to take a photo, but the guard saw him and chased him. Bean then goes inside a dug-up vase inside a tent, but when Mr. Bean sneezes, he breaks the vase and distracts the guard by pointing to the left so he can run away. Thinking he got away scot-free, the Small Swarthie then grabbed Mr. Bean by the neck with the mechanical arm of the digger and threw him into his Mini, closing the door. They both laughed at this. Now in his car, Mr. Bean spotted a metal detector and thought of an idea to make his own.
At home, Bean is in Mrs. Wicket's shed building his own metal detector which took all night to make. He then proceeds to test it in Mrs. Wicket's back garden. He dug out loads of scrap and debris that had been buried in her garden, such as an engine, a bath tub, and an exhaust pipe. When Mrs. Wicket saw Mr. Bean digging in her yard, she angrily yelled his name, making Scrapper fall into the sink out of fright, but then she made profit off of all the things that Mr. Bean had dug out.
Mr. Bean then went out to hunt for artefacts using his own metal detector. It then detected something, so he dug up the artefact covered in hard mud. When Mr. Bean was hammering the hard mud of the treasure, a mole suddenly appeared from the soil. Mr. Bean greeted the mole, but when the mole saw what Bean dug up, he dug away scared. He thought his hammer was the problem, but when he saw what he had actually dug out, it revealed itself to be a hydrogen bomb. Terrified, Mr. Bean sweated as he unlocked his Mini, started the ignition, and started driving slowly. This made the bomb fall and attach itself to his car's bumper, which made Bean relieved. When driving down the hill, the bomb then detached itself and exploded due to the impact it made on the ground, leaving Mr. Bean's Mini stuck in a tree, which fell over and then drove off.
At night, the Swarthies left the security guard tied up, but he managed to trigger the alarm by headbutting it. While the Swarthies drove away with the chest that had been dug out earlier. They then stopped and destroyed the lock, but before they could see what was inside, Mr. Bean, with the metal detector, was mistaken for a police siren. They panicked, buried the chest in the soil, and hid in the digger. The metal detector then detects the chest, and then Mr. Bean straps the chest to his car and brings it home while being followed by the Swarthies. When the Mini's tire ran over a stone, the chest's lid slightly opened and a coin dropped each time, which makes it very easy for police to trace where the stolen treasure was located.
When Mr. Bean pulled up the chest into his window of his flat, the two had made it just in time and they put on their burglar mask. The chest being placed on the floor woke up Mrs. Wicket and Scrapper causing her mud mask to crack. Mr. Bean opened the chest to find a lot of coins, jewelry, and lamps. Bean, jumping around in delight, made Mrs. Wicket angry by knocking at the ceiling with her walking stick. The Swarthies climb up into Mr. Bean's window, knock him out, and tie him up, using Teddy as a gag. The Swarthies looks at the chest full of lot of coins, jewelry, and lamps and they heard Mrs. Wicket comes up into the flat and beats the two of them up. She then saw the treasure inside the chest and said "I'm rich!". When the police arrived at Mr. Bean's flat, they took photos of the thieves and Mrs. Wicket, which subsequently led to their arrests once again. However, both Mrs. Wicket and Scrapper also get arrested, as Mrs. Wicket's mud mask looked like a burglar mask.
The police and the security guard thank Mr. Bean for the stolen chest recovery. After they had left the house, Mr. Bean accidentally dropped the only remaining coin he got from the chest into the drain, which made him scream "No!" as the segment ended.

Errors
- When Mrs. Wicket, the two thieves, and Scrapper are being placed in the prisoner escort, Small is not wearing his mask. However, in the next scene, he is wearing it again.
- Mr. Bean's outline around his face disappears for a split second.
