A Round of Golf is the 40th episode of Season 4 of the Animated Series.
Synopsis[]
Mr. Bean fancies a game of golf, so he makes his own golf course inside his flat; he invites Irma to join him for a round.
Plot[]
Mr. Bean watches a golf tournament on the TV. The golfer hits the ball using his golf club and the ball falls to the hole; he wins the tournament. Bean gets a trophy he won from the face-pulling competition from his cabinet. He then gets his golf equipment but the golf club is dirty so he cleans it. Bean arranges his furniture so he can make his own golf course inside his flat. Bean draws the hole in the middle of his room and he starts playing golf. He swings his golf club and the ball rolls past the hole because there's no hole there it's just a drawing. So Bean drills a hole. Meanwhile, downstairs Mrs. Wicket is enjoying a cup of tea when she hears a drilling noise upstairs. With the hole done, Bean puts the flag there to indicate the goal. Bean hits the ball and it falls to the hole so he wins his trophy. But he gets bored immediately because it was too easy so he needs competition.
Then Irma rings into his front door so Bean answers it. Irma asks Bean where should they go for their picnic; the park or the beach. Bean then asks her what about a golf course and pulls her inside. Irma sets up their picnic inside Bean's room. Bean tells Irma that the lowest score wins the cup. His ball is the white ball and Irma's ball is the yellow ball. Bean will go first and he asks Teddy what club can he recommend even though only one is available; Bean gets the club. He hits the ball, nearly hitting Irma in the process. The ball lands far from the hole and he writes 1 on himself in his scoreboard. It's Irma's turn but Bean won't give her the club because it's his and she should get her own. So Irma uses an umbrella as an improvised golf club. She swings the umbrella and the ball lands on her cake. Bean writes 1 on Irma in his scoreboard. Irma tries to remove the ball from her cake but Bean stops her because it's against the rules so she uses the umbrella to remove the ball, causing the ball to bounce around the room and near the hole. Bean, not wanting Irma to beat him, cheats by turning the fan on. Karma strikes to Bean when Irma's ball pushes his ball below the chair, annoying him.
Bean tries to remove his ball from under the chair but Irma stops him and reminds him of his rule. So Bean uses his golf club to remove his ball from under the chair but it hits the wall; Irma writes 2 on Bean in the scoreboard. Bean uses the rear part of his club to remove the ball and it rolls out of the chair where it rolls around the room until it lands in the tub full of dirty water; Irma writes 3 on Bean in the scoreboard. Bean stands on the sides of his tub and hits the ball but he misses; Irma writes 4 on Bean in the scoreboard. After several misses, Bean's score is now 10 in the scoreboard. Annoyed, Bean continues swinging his club to remove his ball from the tub.
Back downstairs, Wicket is reading a book when dirty water drops on Scrapper causing him to flee. Bean uncovers the brain so he can finally remove his ball; his ball lands in the room. Irma gives Bean the scoreboard and he is shocked when he sees his score is now 13 compared to Irma's score of 2. Irma is going to swing the umbrella but Bean, not wanting to lose to Irma, cheats again by chewing chips loudly to distract her. When Irma tries to swing again, Bean chews some more, preventing her from hitting the ball. Bean writes Irma's score when she tells him to put the chips down; Bean finishes the chips. Bean still doesn't want to lose to Irma so he inflates the paper bag and pops it, shocking Irma and causing her to swing the umbrella to the wrong direction, causing the ball to fly through the window, shattering it. Wicket hears the noise so she goes upstairs. Bean gets angry at Irma for breaking his window when it was his fault for breaking it because he shocked Irma by popping the paper bag, causing her to swing the umbrella to the direction of the window. Irma's ball lands in the dirt truck which drives off so Bean declares himself the winner. But Irma tells Bean he hasn't finished yet so Bean continues the game when Wicket bursts in, shocking Bean and causing him to swing the club the wrong direction and the ball rolls downstairs to Wicket's room, hitting Scrapper in the process.
Angry, Wicket asks Bean what is he doing to which Bean says that they're playing golf. Wicket says they're not playing golf anymore then she returns to her room. Irma tells Bean that if he gives up she wins so Bean thinks of a plan to get his ball back. Wicket can now relax with Bean's ball gone. She then hears a doorbell; it is revealed that Bean rang Wicket's doorbell using his golf club attached to a longer rope. Wicket answers the door and there's no one there. While Wicket is distracted, Bean and Irma run to her room and to her kitchen and they see that the ball landed in Scrapper's litter box. Irma tells Bean to hurry up so Bean swings his club but he hits the litter instead; it smells bad. Irma writes a 16 on Bean in the scoreboard. She sees that Wicket has returned. Bean continues missing just as Scrapper returns. Scrapper pounces on Bean, causing the ball to break the vase and fly through the pet door. Wicket hears noises from her kitchen so she goes there. Bean and Irma go outside, and it's raining. Wicket goes to the kitchen and she sees a mess, which she thinks was made by Scrapper so she throws him outside. Bean and Irma return to Bean's room and they're wet from the rain. Irma grabs the trophy but Bean still doesn't want to give up. So he goes outside under the rain, trying to remove the ball from the grass, while Scrapper is watching him; but all he removes is mud. While Bean continues missing, Irma is still counting the points Bean incurs.
