A Grand Invitation is the 16th episode of Season 3 of the Animated Series.
Synopsis
For saving a lady's dog, Mr. Bean is invited to lunch at their grand old desperate manor house.
Plot
Mr. Bean is driving in his Mini in the countryside when he gets hungry so he gets a cupcake from his bag. He is going to eat it but he turns to a field to avoid running to a Pop truck, causing his eyes to move up and down. Now back on the road, Bean tries to grab his cupcake but it falls to the floor. Instead of simply stopping his Mini, Bean decides to let Teddy drive even though Teddy is just a stuff toy. He grabs his cupcake but sees a barking dog in the middle of the street so he stops his Mini. Bean tries to shoo the dog but it doesn't move so he decides to throw it away until an elderly lady greets him.
The elderly lady lets Bean go inside their large mansion as thanks for saving their dog. Bean goes inside the mansion but the interior seems to be in bad shape. The elderly lady tells Bean to say happy birthday to her dog Binky, and her husband tells Bean to give her dog a kiss which Bean reluctantly does so. Her husband shows Bean the dining room and he tells Bean he should change his coat. On the stairs, her husband tells Bean to give him his bag which Bean does so and he drops Bean's bag to the basket below, causing dust to blow upwards and making Bean sneeze. He offers Bean a handkerchief which Bean declines and uses Teddy to blow his nose instead, shocking the husband. Then they go upstairs. Inside the room, the husband brings out a dirty clothing for Bean to wear and removes Bean coat, which causes the annoyed Bean to stop him. Not liking the dirty clothing, Bean looks at a portrait of a man wearing a blue suit so he finds a blue suit in the wardrobe similar to the man in the portrait. When Bean goes outside the room, he gets annoyed with the squeaky sound made by the sword so he pulls it out and throws it away, making it hit the buttocks of a portrait of a nude woman. Bean then sees another portrait of a man and this time he's wearing a monocle so Bean wears one as well. But he's having difficulties seeing where he's going so he falls down the stairs.
After falling down the stairs, Bean smells something good in coming from the kitchen and sees the lady's husband cooking fish. Bean notices the cook looks like the lady's husband. Bean leaves the kitchen and somehow sees her husband now there, confusing him so he walks back to the kitchen. Back to the kitchen, the lady's husband is preparing fish once again so he walks back outside to see him back there albeit tired. Bean runs back to the kitchen to see him slice a lemon, so he runs back outside and sees him back there; he hides his chef hat from Bean. It's time for dinner and Bean is now on the long dining table. The lady screams in horror when she sees Bean wearing a monocle, so she screams for her husband, who tells Bean to remove his hat and monocle. Binky is on his table growling at Bean. The husband serves Bean a bun and Bean picks up a flyswatter, which the husband uses to kill a fly. Bean then uses a telescope to see what knife the lady uses to slice the bun. Bean slices the bun, but it's really hard. When Bean jabs it, the bun flies into the husband's mouth, prompting him to spit it out. He then serves him fish and Bean sees Binky eating a steak for his birthday. The husband "helps" Bean by cutting out the edible parts of the fish and serves them to his wife instead, annoying Bean. So Bean secretly puts the fishbone to the floor, but he hears choking coming from under the table and sees Binky choking on the fish. When her husband asks Bean what's going on, he pretends he's choking, so he can't hear the dog choke. Bean tries to remove the fish from the dog by shaking him, causing the lady to scream in terror, but Bean successfully removes the fish from her dog's mouth and it lands on her husband's head. Happy that Bean saved her dog, the lady leads him to another room.
Inside the room, a slideshow of Binky eating a chicken is shown, the second slideshow shows him eating a cake, the third slideshow shoes him eating sausages, the fourth slideshow shows him eating a large steak. Bean yawns because he isn't interested at all, annoying her husband who is watching him. Bean pulls out the electricity cable, darkening the room and scaring the couple; Bean sneaks out with the dog following him. He returns to his bag to eat his cupcake but Binky snatches the cupcake from Bean and eats it. Bean pursues Binky to the kitchen and decides to look inside a fridge but there's nothing inside and the fridge smells bad; he notices the fridge unplugged. The lady's husband hears Mr. Bean and finds him so Bean hides under a red cloth and hides in the pantry. Binky bites a piece of the cloth protruding from the pantry and Bean pulls him in. He opens the pantry and pulls the cloth out. The pantry opens and Bean is shown holding Binky's nose and trying not to sneeze; Bean couldn't sneeze so Binky "sneezes" for him and Bean covers his nose again.
Bean tries to sneak back outside only for the dog to stop him. The lady is pretending to be sad because Mr. Bean is leaving. Bean sees the mansion for the last time and leaves giving £20 to the lady. Bean drives off and they put the £20 Bean paid them in their bag and chuckling, revealing that they scam people for money probably to renovate their manor. Just then, the Reliant Regal Driver arrives so the lady puts their dog in the middle of the street to repeat what they did to Bean earlier. Bean gasps in shock, upon realizing he got scammed.
