A Dog's Life is the 3rd episode of Season 5 and 107th episode overall of the Animated Series.
Synopsis[]
Mr. Bean is charged with keeping an eye on Irma's dog Mopsy, but Mopsy is a very willful pooch.
Plot[]
Mr. Bean is playing chess with Teddy; Bean is colored black and Teddy is colored white. Bean moves his pawn so it's Teddy's turn. Bean lets Teddy whisper to his ear and Bean moves Teddy's king. Bean moves his pawn and checkmates Teddy. Bean writes a point for him in his scoreboard; Teddy's score is 0 while Bean's score is 26. Bean hears a knock on his door so he answers it to show Irma carrying her dog Mopsy. Mopsy barks at Bean, shocking him, but Irma says that she likes him and she chases Bean, telling Irma to tell her to stop. Bean hits the chair, knocking Teddy to the ground to which Mopsy bites him so Bean tries to pull Teddy from Mopsy. Irma tells Bean to watch Mopsy for her, to Bean's dismay. She tells Bean Mopsy is no trouble and she'll be back in an hour. Irma brings out Mopsy's leash and her squeaky toy bone then she leaves. Bean successfully pulls Teddy from Mopsy and Mopsy runs to his chair to get her chew toy and gives it to Bean because she wants to play fetch.
Bean takes Mopsy out for a walk but she doesn't walk so Bean presses the button to make the leash pull Mopsy to him but the leash pulls Bean to Mopsy instead. So Bean picks her up but she starts barking so Bean runs to Morsels Superstore and puts her in the shopping trolley. Bean has to pay £1 to use the shopping cart so he pays it. Bean pushes the shopping cart while crossing a slope. The cart then slides down the slope towards the park. Bean sits on a bench and sees a hotdog cart so he decides to eat his sandwich but Mopsy starts whining because she wants to eat only for Bean to say no chance. Mopsy continues whining and makes a cute face so Bean picks up a stick on the ground and unfastens the leash. Bean throws the stick but Mopsy doesn't move. So Bean, annoyed, acts like a dog and runs to get the stick. Bean runs past the hotdog salesman, surprising him and making him squirt ketchup at the customer's face. Bean returns to the bench only to see that Mopsy ate his sandwich, angering him.
Then, a man walking his three dogs passes by. Bean tells the man he's already having a difficult time with just one. The man tells Bean the dogs are not his and he just gets paid to walk them. Bean gets shocked when he realizes he can get paid so he has an idea. He carries Mopsy and she starts barking so Bean tells her to calm down. Bean buys a hotdog sandwich from the hotdog salesman and ties it to a rope then he ties it to the stick. Bean rides on the shopping cart while Mopsy follows the hotdog tied to the stick. Bean returns the shopping cart to the store then he goes home. He returns Mopsy to Irma. Bean eats the hotdog when Irma takes it from him to give it to Mopsy, angering him. In Bean's room, Bean draws posters of himself as the dog walker. Bean hangs the posters everywhere. A cat approaches him but he shoos the cat because he walks dogs not cats. It's night and Bean hammers a poster to a wall, accidentally hammering his finger in the process.
The next day, some people give Bean their dogs so he would take care of them. The dogs bark, angering Mrs. Wicket when she hears them so she goes upstairs. Two dogs are fighting for the chew toy and one dog is biting Bean's chair. Wicket bursts in, hitting the grandfather clock that makes noise when it got hit. The dogs stop what they're doing when they see the angry Wicket. She tells them to leave which they do so so Bean follows them. The dogs look at Wicket's room and Scrapper screeches at them then they run outside. Bean trips on his way out, making him dizzy. Bean leashes the two dogs but they both run to opposite sides, making Bean unable to move and the third dog walks away. Later, Bean successfully leashes the dogs and he takes them out for a walk. But they start running, pulling Bean with them; Bean hits garbage bags and nearly hits two people along the way. They return to the park where a cleaner doesn't notice them. Fortunately, they stop when Bean reaches the bench. One of the dogs is holding a branch so Bean throws it so the dogs run towards it. They return while they all hold the branch. He tells the dogs to stay but they follow him. Bean gets the other two woods when he sees them right in front of him. Bean throws the three woods in which the dogs follow them. The dogs get them and return them to Bean. Bean continues playing fetch with them.
Bean attaches the leash to the sticks and places them to the ground. He presses the button, causing the leash to shoot them like a slingshot; the dogs run towards them. One stick hits the cleaner and the dogs hit him when they run to get the sticks, causing the trash to scatter. Bean apologizes to the cleaner and he tells Bean no out of control dogs and shows him the sign and a fine of £50. So Bean attaches the leash to the dogs to avoid paying the fine but the dogs continue running, pulling Bean with them in the process. They bark at the ducks that causes them to run away. Bean tries to sit on the bench but the dogs don't stop. The dogs chase the squirrel even though Bean tells them not to. They run past the hotdog salesman, surprising him and making him accidentally squirt ketchup to the customer's eye; Bean hits his cart, causing the cart to be pushed away. The squirrel runs past the cleaner and the hotdog cart hits the no out of control dogs sign, causing Bean to fall to him and making a mess. The cleaner warned Bean earlier so he lets Bean pay the £50 fine, thus making Bean lose all his money the dog owners paid him earlier. Unfortunately, the cleaner now has to clean the mess from the hotdog cart. Saddened because of the fine, Bean grabs the dogs but he's happy because he has lunch at last, which is the hotdog sandwich. Bean returns home just as the dog owners arrive to get their dogs back. Bean places his hotdog sandwich on the stairs. When the owners leave, Bean sees that one of the dogs got his hotdog sandwich so Bean tells the dog to drop it but they all eat his sandwich, to his chagrin.

Trivia[]
- This is the first appearance of Irma Gobb in Season 5.
- This is the first and only appearance of Irma's pet Mopsy.
- In the chess game at the beginning, we see that Teddy lost all of his chess pieces (excluding the king), while Mr Bean has only moved his C2 pawn to B3. This is impossible because if you want to move your C2 pawn to B3, it is required to have another figure of the enemy on this field. And it´s just impossible to lose most of your figures in just one move.
- The second white tower piece is missing, meaning Teddy went into this round with just 15 chess pieces.
- Another Illegal move is played, right after Teddy moves his C6 King (or queen) to D5. Mr. Bean moves his C3 Pawn to E6. First of all, this is not a checkmate, because the king (or queen) is able to take the pawn. Second of all, a pawn can NEVER move to E6 from the field it was, just half an move ago.
