A Car for Irma is the 25th episode of Season 5 and 129th episode overall of Mr. Bean: The Animated Series.

Synopsis

Mr. Bean finds out that Declan, his rival in love, took Irma for a ride in his fancy new car, so Bean decides to upgrade his car.

Plot

Mr. Bean is washing his Mini but he can't get a stain off so he uses Teddy to wash off the stain. He carries the bucket but it's too heavy and he spills water on himself, annoying him. So he wipes off the water. Bean hears a horn and a dark blue SUV arrives. Bean wonders who the driver is until Irma comes out from the SUV's door, shocking him. Irma greets him and Declan rolls down the window, asking Bean if he likes his SUV. Bean says it's very nice; Declan tells Irma he'll pick her up later. Bean shows Declan his Mini to which Declan laughs at his Mini. Bean says his car is actually a good one to which Declan tells Bean he'll show Bean a real car to Bean's going to have a look. Irma, annoyed, reminds Bean of their lunch and she's only got an hour from the donkey sanctuary. So Bean gives her the key and he'll be right in so Irma angrily gets it. Declan shows Bean the fancy parts of his SUV to which Bean says it's okay. He shows Bean the inside of his SUV which Bean says it's very nice.

In Bean's room, Irma sits on the table and brings out their two sandwiches. Not wanting to wait any longer, Irma eats her sandwich. In Declan's SUV, he shows Bean his music which is too loud so Bean tells Declan to lower the volume. The music stops. Declan presses the down button and his window goes down then he closes the window. Bean likes Declan's SUV and he leaves. He shows Declan his Mini is also very nice. So Declan tells Bean who Irma chooses and he drives off. Bean returns home and Irma knocks from the window, telling Bean it's lunchtime. But Bean tells her he's busy, annoying her.

Holding a wrench, Bean decides to improve his Mini to make his better than Declan's SUV. He sneaks in front of the Bruiser's house while Bruiser Sr. is reading a newspaper. Bean takes a wooden plank and hammers it to his Mini to look like a spoiler. He paints the windows black to make it look like it's tinted. Back in Bean's room, Irma finishes her sandwich and she takes a small lettuce from Bean's sandwich. Bean pulls out a driller and a fan from the shed. He removes the roller and replaces it with the driller and the fan and the window descends. Bean needs to replace his radio and he goes to his room but he ignores his sandwich to get his record player, annoying Irma. Bean attaches his record player to the jumpstarter and places it in his Mini's trunk. Bean pulls the right rope and music plays then he pulls the left rope to increase the volume. Bean honks his Mini which he doesn't like the sound so he removes a smoke detector outside Wicket's room and places it in the engine compartment. Bean honks his Mini and the smoke detector goes off. Bean drives off to the car service shop and inflates his Mini's tires, making them big. Irma finishes Bean's sandwich and she realizes she's late. Bean arrives home just Declan arrives as well. Declan locks his car and he looks at Bean's modified Mini. He laughs at Bean's Mini so Bean calls him rude.

Irma sadly goes down and she gets shocked at Bean's modified Mini. Both he and Declan let Irma decide who she should ride with. Bean shows Irma a spot for Lottie at the back of his Mini so she chooses Bean and puts Lottie on her spot and tells Bean to hurry up because she's late. Declan is angry because Irma chose Bean. They both drive off; Bean's Mini is bouncing because he inflated the tires too much. Bean sees Declan pursuing him so he accelerates. The wooden plank is about to come off and Bean drives over a hump. The wooden plank comes off and lands upside down on the road. Declan stops his car moments before he hits the wooden plank. He says it's careless and someone should pick it up. They both stop before an intersection. Declan plays music in his SUV in which Bean does the same in his Mini; they both higher the volumes. Irma is covering her ears because it's getting too loud. The stoplight turns green so Declan drives off. Bean then does the same. Declan has placed the wooden plank on the road which flattens Bean's Mini's tires when he drives over it.

Irma, annoyed, shows Bean her watch because she's getting late so she leaves his Mini and goes to Declan's SUV. Bean gets a spare tire from the trunk to replace his flat tire. Declan opens the sunroof and gives Irma a cup of coffee but she tells him to hurry up because she's getting late. Bean replaces his flat tire and passersby laugh at his Mini. He feels bad when realizes what he has done to his Mini so he removes all modifications and his Mini is back to normal. Bean drives off and takes a shortcut. Declan presses a button that descends the passenger's chair all the way down so he presses it again to ascend it, annoying her. Bean honks his Mini that still has the smoke detector alarm. Bean mockingly greets Declan and blows a raspberry at him to taunt him. Annoyed, Irma reminds Declan about work so he accelerates. The Reliant is going to leave its parking space but stops when Bean drives past it; it continues but it stops again when Declan drives past it; unfortunately the ice cream truck stops right in front of it, trapping it; the driver honks to let the ice cream truck move out of the way. Bean returns to the same narrow road but Declan's SUV gets stuck because it's too wide. Furious, Irma says she's so late. Bean asks Irma if she can ride his Mini so she opens the sunroof to escape Declan's stuck SUV and go to Bean's Mini. Declan groans in defeat. They drive off to the donkey sanctuary while Declan calls for help. Irma exits Bean's Mini to go to the donkey sanctuary. Bean adjusts his radio when Irma knocks his door so Bean lowers the window using the driller still attached to it. Irma kisses Bean which Bean wipes as usual. Bean closes his window, not noticing his tie is stuck there. When his window fully closes, his tie gets caught so Bean lowers the window but the driller runs out of power, making Bean stuck in that position. Irma says bye to Bean as she goes to the donkey sanctuary while Bean drives off with his tie still stuck in the window.
